⁕⁕Do You Know?⁕⁕

The tea gardens of Darjeeling are one of the prime tourist attractions in Darjeeling. However, the Darjeeling tea growers have been hit by a recent crisis.
Now, the Darjeeling tea market in the country is facing major competition due to Nepal’s tea imports. So, the Darjeeling Tea Association (DTA) has raised a concern, and DTA has written a letter to Piyush Goyal, the Union Commerce Minister.
Further, Sandeep Mukherjee, the principal advisor of DTA, has mentioned,
“Cheap and unregulated tea from Nepal is flooding India, undermining the domestic tea sector, especially Darjeeling tea, without undergoing necessary FSSAI checks.
He has also added,
Immediate steps are needed to clean up the Indian tea ecosystem and protect consumers by ensuring all teas meet FSSAI standards, as is required of domestically produced tea. It is unfair that while our domestic teas undergo testing as per FSSAI directives, Nepal imports bypass these regulations.
So, as a platform for travel enthusiasts, Dream and Travel wishes that the crisis gets resolved and the tea gardens in the Queen of Hills continue to enjoy their glory.
