With an average rainfall of 1205mm during the monsoon season (June to September), Nagpur has many waterfalls within a distance of 500 Kms. These waterfalls are popular picnic spots and weekend getaways.

These waterfalls also add to the geological diversity of the city along with the surrounding hill stations like Chikhaldara, Bhandardara, Matheran, etc. The city also has many rivers, like the Nag River, Pench River, Kanhan River, and Kolar River.

In addition, each waterfall near Nagpur has an important role in maintaining the local ecosystem. These waterfalls offer habitats for many aquatic plants and animals. So, these cascades are important for the local ecotourism.

Did You Know?

Things To Keep In Mind When You Visit A Waterfall Near Nagpur | A Dream And Travel Note

                      • Each waterfall near Nagpur looks the most beautiful during the monsoon season, and that is the peak tourist season.
                      • However, the perils are more in this season with raging water, slippery rock surfaces and an abundance of wildlife.
                      • So, be an alert traveler and wear proper shoes with a good grip. Also, maintain a respectable distance from animals and birds.
                      • Moreover, sustainable tourism is very important at these waterfalls. Over-tourism mustn’t negatively impact the local community and environment. Therefore, you cannot throw trash or randomly pick pebbles or other natural elements as souvenirs.
                      • Also, carry water and snacks with you as most waterfalls are located at remote places with limited facilities of food and beverages.
                      • The streams in the waterfalls and pools may have a strong undercurrent during the monsoon season.

So, assess the risks of swimming before jumping into the water. A few months ago, a 19-year-old traveler, Nikhil Nandu Pakhere, drowned at Dhodani Waterfall.

That’s from me for now about the waterfall near Nagpur within 100 Kms. Enjoy your time amidst cascading waters and tranquility! Wish you a happy journey or Ānandī pravāsa!
